Ending the Cycle of Poverty

A few months ago, I read a inspiring book called Whatever It Takes by Paul Tough.  It chronicles Geoffrey Canada’s Harlem Children’s Zone program to end the cycle of poverty starting with children as babies.  Part of the program is teaching mothers and fathers in Harlem to parent similar to mothers and fathers  in prosperous communities through reading, interactive communication, and language development.  The encouraging news is that it’s working.

This American Life recently did a segment on the book which you will find here. Take 3o minutes out of your busy schedule and be prepared to be blown away.
